ISA for Car Safety in Safest Cars and SUVs
August 7th, 2008 | by admin |There are car safety technologies being invented all of the time which can further increase the safety of even the safest cars and safest SUVs. One of the technologies that you might find being implemented is Intelligent Speed Adaptation (or ISA).
What Is ISA in the Safest Cars and SUVs?
Intelligent Speed Adaptation refers to the way that some of the safest cars and safest SUVs can actually monitor what the local speed limit is and force the driver to adapt to that speed limit. Intelligent Speed Adaptation uses local GPS monitoring to determine what the speed limit should be. It then checks the speed limit of the vehicle and lets you know if you are exceeding that speed limit.
Two Kinds of ISA in Safest SUVs and Cars
There are two kinds of ISA. The first is advisory ISA which issues a warning to the driver that the car is going over the speed limit. The second is active ISA which automatically reduces the speed of the car. There is some debate as to whether car safety is improved or hindered with active ISA because of the fact that there may be rare situations in which it is safer to speed up the car than to slow it down.
How Does ISA Improve Car Safety?
Going the right speed limit almost always enhances car safety despite the fact that there are rare situations that would require a faster speed for better car safety. Being aware of the fact that you are going over the speed limit can encourage you to slow down and drive more safely. Read through reviews of some of the safest cars and safest SUVs (try Acura Reviews, Rolls-Royce Reviews and Hyundai Reviews to start) to see if ISA is used.
